About Wes Molebash

My name is Wes Molebash and I am a cartoonist. I’ve drawn comics and cartoons for companies and organizations such as Viper Comics, THE Ohio State University, and Stuff Christians Like.
My wife, Kari, and I currently live and work in Southern Ohio. I drive a Volkswagen Jetta which gets pretty good gas mileage. I love to read and I spend way too much time on the internet. My wife and I attend church at Centerpoint in Chillicothe, OH.
Insert Image is my pride and joy, and you can learn more about the comic by checking out the New Readers page.

Get To Know Me!
I’ve been drawing comics since I was just a kid. I can remember taking a piece of printer paper, placing it strategically over the decorative groove in our dining room table, and using the groove to guide my pencil along the paper giving me straight lines. These straight lines became the panels to my first comic strips, and within those panels I created whole worlds and told epic stories!
Now, some twenty-plus years later, I’m still using comic strips to create worlds and tell stories. My tools are a little less primitive (as you can see below), but my passion for cartoons and comics has never burned brighter.
In 2004, I began publishing a comic strip through Viper Comics. Over the next four years, we published two books together and a one-shot. I also contributed some work to a few anthologies, and had the opportunity to visit several comic book conventions and sign some books at comic shops all across the country. Those were good times.
I decided it was time to follow the advice of Fleetwood Mac and “go my own way”, so I stepped away from Viper in 2008 and started publishing my cartoons on my own. So far, it’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I met my wife, Kari, in 2009 through an internet dating site, and in 2010 we were married. Life has been pretty awesome for the Molebashes down here in Southern Ohio. We like to eat out, go to movies, and watch a lot of TV. Kari gets to hear me talk about comics a lot, but she never tells me to shut up. That’s why I love her so much.
I’ve created a lot of comics over the past eight years, but Insert Image is easily my favorite of them all. I hope you enjoy reading the cartoon as much as I love creating it!

Tools of the Trade!
Here’s a list of the various tools I use to draw cartoons and write blogs:
- I use a mechanical Pentel pencil with 0.7 blue lead
- I use DESiGN rubber kneaded erasers
- I ink with a Pentel Pocket Brush and Higgins Black Magic Ink (or Sumi ink – whatever’s on the table)
- I draw on smooth Strathmore Bristol Board (I mainly use 9X12, 11X14, and 14X17 size sheets)
- For measurements and straight-edges, I use a three-foot T-square. I also use an 18-inch ruler with cork backing and a see-through drafting ruler
- I scan my drawings into the computer with a Brother all-in-one printer/scanner
- My computer is a 13″ MacBook Pro
- I edit my artwork in Photoshop CS3
- My comic blog is powered by WordPress with the Comicpress theme
The cartoons, comics, and blog posts on this site are my own personal opinions and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of Centerpoint Church.
